Christingle Service – Sunday 11th February

Christingle Service Sunday 11th February, 10am

Join us for a family service on 11th February to celebrate Jesus as Light of the world at our Christingle service.  It was too busy in church to celebrate Christingle at Christmas!

So we’re holding a Christingle during the time of Candlemas.

Join us for all-age worship, activities and refreshments.  Everyone welcome!

St Nicholas Service Sunday 10th December

Sunday 10th December 10am at St Peter’s Church, Stanley

Santa needs some help to collect presents for children in need this Christmas! Can you bring a gift for Santa?
Come to our café-style family service on St Nicholas Day and bring a gift to go in Santa’s sack. There will be children’s activities and visit from Santa.

The Salvation Army will tell us about their Christmas Present Appeal which gives thousands of Christmas presents to children in need every year. By giving a gift you can make a real difference to someone’s life at Christmas. Gifts can be for children aged 0-16 years and should be brand new and UNWRAPPED

Stanley Heritage Trail Launch – 21st October

You may have already seen or heard about the interpretation board that was installed last month at the site of the old St Peter’s Church. The board has text about the history of St Peter’s Church and its important role in Stanley life. Many Stanley residents will cherish memories of being married there and watching their children being christened, and it is of course a place of memorial for those we have lost in our community. The design of the board was a collaboration between Stanley Residents Group and the church and we are very grateful for generous funds contributed toward it. We hope it is a fitting way to mark the Church’s 200 year anniversary next year. We are very excited to announce :

The Stanley Heritage Trail will be launched on Saturday 21st October
10am-12pm at St Peter’s Church on Lake Lock Road

We very much hope that you will join us to celebrate Stanley’s wonderful and varied history. There will be a mining exhibition, as well as items and memorabilia from the old St Peter’s Church, including some of the stunning misericords and the old clock face. We are inviting local residents to contribute items to a display of artefacts and memorabilia of Stanley history. If you have any such items, please contact stanleyresidentsgroup@gmail.com and we can arrange collection.
Refreshments will be provided at the launch event, and those who can and wish to, can join one of the volunteer-led walks to explore sections of the Trail. For the kids, there will be a Trail hunt for stamps that can be traded for prizes!
